I am using Win 7 on my Desktop, with an old MoBo with an 1150, and an i7 4770.

I will stay with Win7 and I only want to upgrade. It seems highest i5 will be 9xxx on a z370?

Before I buy this, I want to make certain, that this hardware will work for win 7, or will there be f.e. driver trouble?

(I know, that I will need a stronger PSU)

Thank you

From the following search, Looks like it is not straight forward and seems to need some shoe horning to get it working.

Will have a OS issue. If going to just swap the drive in will have issues.

You do know that running WIN 7 is a danger to everyone on the internet and your friends and family.

Is a wast of time and money when you should be on Linux if not wanting to move up.

Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition : https://linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=299  Most like Windows. : https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_vera_cinnamon_whatsnew.php

FAQ's plus Minimum Requirements : https://linuxmint.com/faq.php

Less Command Line stuff than others. Check out the videos : https://www.google.com/search?q=linux+mint+cinnamon&client=firefox-b-d&source=lnms&tbm=vid&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjzu4eQ-8L8AhViAzQIHSZ2D8oQ_AUoAnoECAEQBA&biw=1536&bih=671&dpr=1.25

It Comes with Software as well there is tons of Software available : Open Source : https://alternativeto.net/platform/linux/?license=opensource check free and ....

This is your best option and should consider it after what has been mentioned to you.

I agree with the others.
You MIGHT get it to install, but there will be driver problems & it likely will not run well:

All the drivers for Win 7 and the z270 mobo are from ASRock available, and will be downloadad before the hardware change (probably on a USB stick

Installed without a problem worth mentioning...

Aaaaah... I forgot....  I mentioned  that I use to have "MoBo with an 1150 and an i7 4770."

What no one mentioned was the little detail, that for that new set-up I need DDR4 memory. It took me all day yesterday visiting some old used computer/repair shops, to find someone who pointed that out to me...

Hi, problem is listing what used to have.  It throws everyone off.   No idea what you are running as do not see it.  Asrock z270 well there are many versions, a Pro a Extreme4, Gaming K4

So if you do not supply the correct information then is difficult to figure out what.   I used to have a 4790K but now running a backup 4770K.

Any hooo glad sorted it out.  A clean Install would be best for the Drivers of the unknown model of Asrock Z270 M/B from it's Support Page.

Sorry, You misunderstod my last comment, because it was slightly sarcastic.

All necessary information about my installation was given. But in the answers I got, everybody forgot to tell me that this upgrade would ALSO need new ddr4 memory sticks.

I was just plain lucky that a friend told me.... It would have been a real catastrophy If I would have put in a new board and a new CPU and then... it would not start because of the ram... I could searched and asked question for the next seven years...,

So it seems to me, this is not agood forum to ask questions...  right?

Better update your OS to the latest version too... It will open you many other features. Windows 11 is not that bad to stick with Windows 7
