First I want you to know I did research but can't quite find what I am looking for. I have built many systems but this is my first AM5 build. BIOS dates from January of this year. Motherboard is a Gigabyte 650 Aorus Elite AX; CPU Ryzen 5 7600X.

Issue: WD-Black SN850X 2TB does not show up in the BIOS (everything else does). I installed and reinstalled on the main M.2 slot but no go. BIOS keeps saying "No Bootable Device." I tried putting this M.2 in another slot thinking that maybe because the main slot is Gen 5 that might be the issue but, again, the message no bootable device showed up.

Also, system starts right up every time but the mobo does have the red BOOT LED on when powered

Does the WD_Black have known issues with AM5 builds? Really need troubleshooting/advice. My old trusty system of 12 years is failing slowly but surely so I need this one working soon. Thanks.

Hi, When Posting please use the Complete and Proper name of your : Gigabyte 650 Aorus Elite AX
Is it (Rev 1.0 / 1.1 ) or ( Rev 1.2 ), it matters ????

Both BIOS versions for each M/B are Dated May 2024.

If you have not installed the Drivers off of your M/B Support Page please do so especially the Chipset or the SATA Drivers.

EDIT : You do not state what OS you are running, Win10 or Win 11 ?

Forgot please install the Dashboard and anything else you should have : https://support-en.wd.com/app/products/downloads/softwaredownloads

Have you formatted the drive and is all 2 TB found in anything else ?? may have tried ??

OH... p..... If it starts right Up do you have the old Boot drive still in the system ?? If so it needs to be disconnected.  It still holds the boot info on it and is confusing (me) and the system.
It will need formatting all 3 partitions off of it before doing so. UEFI, System and C :

Try the free Partition Manager : https://www.paragon-software.com/free/pm-express/#

Am sorry missed again : "My old trusty system of 12 years is failing slowly"  May not be able to use as the board is too old.  So confused.  Best not mix old system info with new system info.

"No bootable device" is what you'd expect to see because the SSD is presumably new and therefore has nothing on it.  If (as is likely) the system is in UEFI only mode, then bootable devices are only ones that contain EFI partitions.  The main thing to establish is whether you are able to use the Windows installer (or other OS if applicable) to prepare the drive for use.

Therefore I would suggest you boot from your Windows USB key and see if you are able to install the OS to the drive.

Do Note : if using Windows 10 the Partitions for System need to be made Larger that what was previously used.

No idea if anything Windows Install does that.  So please make sure the System Partition is larger than 100.

#1....I agree with post #5

#2....To test: disconnect your main drive. Power up. Do you get the POST screen? If you do, then the computer will POST, so it would appear that post #5 is correct.

#3.... If still the same problem, reset the CMOS/BIOS back to factory default and try again.

#4.... If still the same problem, get Memtest 86 on a bootable thumb drive and run it on your connected main drive to verify the drive is good or not.

First, thanks to everyone who posted. It is much appreciated. Second, sorry for my delayed reply. Third, I apologize for not providing enough information earlier. There was no OS installed because this is a brand new system with all brand new parts.

Long story short: After uninstalling and reinstalling the WD Black for the third time the BIOS detected it. But I was still getting No Bootable Device. Came to find out that I had a faulty USB port and after switching out said port my system detected the OS on the USB drive I was using and all went well. I never once had a BIOS like the one on this board so when it said No Bootable Device and yet it detected the WD I was afraid the mobo was defective.  I didn't think it was such a simple thing as moving the USB to another port. Then again call me simple...
