BSOD when trying to connect WiFi to router

Dell Latitude E5530

Purchase app. 2016.

Upgraded OEM drive once, then a 2nd time, then 4-5 months ago to SSD. No issues since

Have run SFC until no further issues found

Have run DISM but don't recall results

Am presently connecting in Safe Mode using the Wifi card connected to my phone which is connected to the router.

Hi, Dism is suppose to be run before SFC.

Please follow the Posting Instructions as you have missed all 3 important things, Ram Testing, Speccy Report and the Sysnative Collection.

Do you have other posts that you have left past attachments on ? Open your Name then My Settings then Left Side Manage Attachments.

You can see if can attach the Sysnative Report then,  Is still too large upload it to a Reputable File Share Site.

Do have a question before doing so.  In System Info your System Model  shows as a Latitude E5530 non-vPro  Bios Version : A21, 11/30/2018

Since is a non-vPro why would you be running the BIOS for a vPro ?  Regardless These BIOS Versions is this the 2018 V21 or is it the V21 Released in 2019 that was early ??   https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/product-support/product/latitude-e5530/drivers These installed Fast Boot.

Regardless of which in BIOS please Turn off Fast Boot for the same reasons as below :

EDIT : Note this system can not Update to Win11.  Windows 10 End of Life October 2025.

OK, my bad -

I wanted to at least get this to you before rebooting to turn off Fast Boot and confirm BIOS version. Will reload correct BIOS if found incorrect - I may have misinterpreted the instruction for non Pro vs Pro. Will confirm year if possible while in there.

I have also tried to run the Dell System Support tests for memory and hardware thinking it might suffice for your need but it doesn't seem to want to run in Safe Mode.

Hi, re the BIOS. Is wrong one but the BIOS is for Win8.   Not sure what you should do about it.  Suggest ask in the Dell Forum or just leave it for now.

From a DOS Command Prompt from START | type cmd.exe into the start search box | RIGHT-click on cmd.exe | select "Run as Administrator" then Copy/Paste --> : DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command then Enter
if it finds problems then reboot. (Completed Successfully : means reboot)

After : please Open another Admin Command Prompt and please run Copy/Paste --> SFC /SCANNOW into the Dos window or Powershell and Enter.  Reboot after.

Now there is reasons for not getting out on the internet. Issues with the system (maybe above fixes that)  and or Malware.

Wireless Driver : When searching Dell I come up with older Dell Wireless 1530 and 1540 Wi-Fi driver from 2015, yours are 2016.

Suggest Download it : https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/product-support/product/latitude-e5530/drivers and reinstall it.

Only other Option is to buy a USB Dongle Wireless Wifi Card.

The other Driver : Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN is sorta the same issues, Win Vista/7/8.1 support only.

Other than reinstalling your drivers and checking the Diagnostic Tool on your Support Page can not recommend anything myself.

Issue is it's old. This should be running Linux.

Can not access the Google Drive.  You have not made that Public so until get the Sysnative Report am only speculating and suggesting.

Machine has run without issue for several years until we flew to FL last week and are on a different router. Also seems weird I can connect via my iPhone when in Safe Mode. We will be heading home this Wednesday so I can see if issues connecting on home router.

Made folder public so you should be able to see it now.

Ran the DISM instruction - completed without issue - rebooted.

Ran the SFC /SCANNOW instruction - completed without finding integrity violations - reboot pending once I send this.

Agreed the machine is old and I have failed to upgrade memory. But that's for another day. Up until this trip to FL, the machine has run fine.

Am trying now to upgrade BIOS to ver A21 2019

Noted existing BIOS is "A21 non-vPro" which to me is correct - on Dell website, either of 2 BIOS's available - the one I'm trying to upload, and a version for systems "with Intel vPro".

Replaced Dell recommended BIOS (A21 2019) based on Service Tag number. BIOS designated as non-vPro.

My comment concerning reaching http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html is that I cannot reach the site with this machine or my iPad - I think the address is incorrect. I can reach the internet on the problem machine running in Safe Mode and using my iPhone as a hot-spot, hooked to the same router that the problem machine crashes when trying to connect direct. Weird!

DISM, SFC performed and followed instructions. No errors found with either.

Went into BIOS before updating to turn off Fast Boot. Did not specifically find a way to turn off. I need to check it now with the new BIOS.

No i did not want you to go down.  You were better off with BIOS you were running.  Fast Boot was Enabled in both those Versions.

I made comments about finding the older BIOS from 2015 and said did not think it appropriate to use.  The above is non pro as it is not in it's name.

As well it is off your Driver Support Page under or above the one you had installed.

Only the A21 Bios Enabled for use on the System : Fast Boot.  It did not exist in prior Bios Versions.  That is why can no find it.

It maybe as mentioned those Commands from Post 7 number 7 may do something, or not.  It is not usual to get BSOD's just for network like that.

Must always suspect that all hotel/motel connections are dangerous.  Enjoy your Travel's :=}

All your dumps point to : Netwsw00.sys    Netwsw00.sys+a005c  Your Network Driver.  Would say it has been been fried too many times.

Try reinstalling at was  suggested.

You may have misunderstood my previous post - I replaced whatever BIOS was in the machine with the above referenced BIOS.

As for the WiFi card being fried, I want to be clear - I am connecting to my cell phone hot spot via WiFi and I can see the router of the home that I am in as well as that of surrounding homes (although all are locked so can not test connectivity)..

I am not in a hotel.

My cell phone is using it's connection to the router for internet service.

I don't think the WiFi card is fried - I could be wrong, you guys know better than I.

I will uninstall the WiFi driver again and make sure the new driver used will be specifically for the WiFi card.

I will also run the indicated minitoolbox tests and report back.

I dont have access to a blank writeable CD or >2gB USB drive at the moment to run memory tests

Back soon.

FYI - am currently booted normally and connected via iPhone hot spot.

Next up is to remove and add WiFi card drivers as indicated above.
