This has happened to me - then I researched and found that it gets automatically Deleted - if your System Protection - is set to Lower than %5   , yes I see mine was only at %2 - But it would have been Nice if Windows had Told me Earlier that it would Deleted that - so I found out the Hard way . Does Bill Gates or His microsoft do the same to windows 11 - shenanigans ! ????

Yes, Windows System Restore requires a minimum amount of disk space reserved for its use in order to work properly.

See here:

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/33460-change-system-protection-max-storage-size-drive-windows-10-a.html

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4571-create-system-restore-point-windows-10-a.html

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4588-system-restore-windows-10-a.html

Having said that:
Using SR to undo changes does not always work correctly or reliably.
Even MS advocates using a 3rd-party free or paid DISK IMAGING application as a more reliable & safer way to "back up" the system.

And having said THAT, if you are running short of free disk space on your OS boot drive (usually the C:\ drive), then System Restore is not the only Windows feature that will be compromised. Windows itself needs at least 20-25% free space to work properly.

Just a thought: Windows Monthly Updates frequently clear Restore Points and turn the App off..

I don't think monthly CUs do it.
But major FEATURE updates have done so.
Windows 10 has been on 22H2 for quite a while, with neither recent nor future, planned feature updates before support ends in October 2025.

So, I don't *think* that explains the Topic Starter's issue.

Cheers

Info only,

if Restore Points become corrupted they can be deleted.

As well System Maintenance can delete them after 90 days.    If choose all in Disk CleanUp it also may delete them.

Other Backup or imaging software can delete them.

A Mini Tool Box Report would be helpful.

That is correct.

You need to free up drive space ASAP before your computer runs into serious performance problems.
