Just today, I had all task bar icons, Vol. control, Network indicator, and most ( al but one ) Hidden icons, just not show in my task bar.   When I went to select icons to show in task bar, Its showed no options, none.

I searched a bit and tried a few things. Made sure I was not in lap top mode, restarted windows explorer, restarted, and did a virus scan in quick  and extended versions. The scans cam up clean, so I searched a bit more for an answer to the issue.

Only thing I really learned was that I indeed was not the first to have this happen.

Then I found a suggested video, that did return my task bar icons and such.

Any idea what that path might have fixed? Might be a bit late, but should I go back in and reverse the change.

Yes, it has been a common issue in Windows 10.

A few fixes I might have tried before editing the registry are listed here:

https://www.makeuseof.com/how-to-fix-windows-10-not-showing-app-icons-in-taskbar/

A slightly different list (NOTE: information ONLY - do NOT download or buy anything):

https://www.minitool.com/backup-tips/windows-10-taskbar-icons-missing.html

In particular, rebuilding the icon cache, uninstalling 3rd-party apps that modify Windows appearance/function, & updating your display drivers might have been helpful.
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5645-rebuild-icon-cache-windows-10-a.html

Given the widespread nature of the problem & the many, different solutions, I'm not sure if one can pin down the root cause to a single issue/trigger.

PS As an aside: be careful following YT videos for things like editing the registry. If things go pear-shaped, it may be hard to recover & you won't have any support.
