Don't even know what to title this

Computer is Asus windows 8.1 desktop 64 version

This computer has problems and it stacks like bills

There is some kind of hidden process I believing sucking the life out of the computer
it is constant 100% CPU and 100% disk usage, it's been alternating between the
two for over 1 hour now.  Soon as open a web browser whether it's firefox or
chrome up goes the CPU or the DISK and then it will alternate 100% between the two.

I also am unable to get high speed internet on this PC which is using ethernet chord
and should be able to get the 1,000 MBPS internet but is currently at 230 MBPS
it generally stays in the 100 to 200 range.

I have factory reset this computer dozens of times, now listen closely the original
internet speed package I had was 500 MBPS before the upgrade and I have
had instances where the speed then would drop too 60 MBPS or less,
I would factory reset the computer and come back with everything wiped
and the speed would be in the 400 MBPS range but within a day or two
would start dropping back to the 60s or less, now that my speed has been
bumped up to 1,000 MBPS I can get between 100 to 200 MBPS range.

I was thinking maybe there is a hidden process sucking up everything the computer has,
and I cannot figure out what it is for the life of me.  

Something else that I deal with is Disk hitting 100% and constantly knocking
off the device graphics, this is constant with this PC, there are days where it
happens 50 or 60 times.


Is there no way I can figure out what is going on here?

Which seems has disabled Windows Defender which would be the more current protection as well can not run 2 A/V at the same time.

Can not swap Profile in would need to Backup Bookmarks and uninstall Firefox 114 and then install ESR and stick in bookmarks.

I previously uninstalled it under control panel, if I click control panel and go to the list there is no McAfee their.
There was actually two McAfee things in control panel that I uninstalled one of them was the
Antivirus program and it had something else McAfree but cannot remember what it was called. 

Also McAfee for some reason never gives me the entire free trial, it has always stopped
working after 2 or 3 days saying your free trial has ended.

Please advise on why it is showing McAfee after being uninstalled and how to get rid
of it since nothing McAfee related is in the control panel

For anyone that happens along and reads this thread from June 2023. I finally figured out what was going on, my Desktop computer is bottle necked.

Not a fanboy of such programs and the screenshot above is just one reason why, it suggests that you have a discrete graphics card when you do not.

The video output comes from the CPU and to be able to function it relies on the system memory, you only having the one stick of RAM is the cause of the CPUs bottleneck in this instance, note the high memory usage and limiting 800MHz RAM speed, two matching sticks of 1866MHz RAM would get the best of the CPU, it would more than double your RAM speed and leave you with more memory available to use for running software/programs without starving the CPU of the extra RAM it need to be able to provide better video quality.

As you probably already know Windows 8.1 reached EOL in Jan of this year which means you are missing 8 months of security updates. I would be hesitant to do any banking or online shopping with an unsupported OS.

You can get a free upgrade to Windows 10. If the computer came pre-installed with Windows 8.1 your key is embedded in firmware and will auto activate once online. In any case I would pull the Windows key using a program like ShowKeyPlus.
