Could be RAM, HDD, or bad cables. I would do a memory test first, then a HDD test after backing up any data not already backed up.

After start and restart around three times, it's now running fine.
Hard drive going????
I checked out the suggestions.
Checked the hard drive and memory.
Unplugged and plugged back in.
Same problem.
Wouldn't let me run the chkdsk command.
Something about the "volume"
But it's running fine now.

What program did you use to check the HDD? If the data on the drive is not backed up I would back it up in any case. If your drive failed tomorrow how hard would it be to recover the data.
You can use GSmartControl to do the short and long tests or one of the below. If the drive is an SSD then most manufacturers have their own diagnostic software.
If the drive is a Seagate HDD then use Seagate for Windows.
If the drive is a WD you can use WD dashboard. It works for both SSD and HDD.

So it must have done something.
When I turned it on, it started to run a program.
Didn't help much.
It stopped at 11%.
I turned it off a couple of times, and it started without starting the program.
It had to restart a couple of times.
Then it worked like normal.
I'm going to give up on this old computer.
I set up a desktop that I got a few years back.
I thought my desktop was having problems, but I ran a suggestion from here, and it fixed the problem.
Never used the new computer.
I started another thread asking for help setting it up.

Just a thought to run DISM and SFC commands on it.

This error indicates that the system has encounteres a problem while attempting to read data from the paging file, a file used to store virtual memory on the hard drive, maybe can you look at this and see if this caused the error

I have almost given up on this old gal.
New computer is getting up to speed, and should be done with getting it the way I like it.
Thank you for all the suggestions.

No big loss, doesn't look like a very good machine for the future with Windows 10 anyhow. Test the drive and do a reinstall if you want it for a backup.
I forget if you can run programs, I thought it may have been in this thread but it is not. I would post the results of speccy, it only takes a minute or two and members can look and see if it is worth fixing as a backup.
It's always hard to tell what's going on without some real details. This will avoid many pages of unnecessary questions also.
Would you please post a Speccy Snapshot Link with THIS TUTORIAL Make sure to let the program fully load before getting the Link. There will be a spinning icon in the bottom left that will stop when it is ready. Paste the Link here or to a document for safe keeping right after Copying to Clipboard so that you don't lose it. If you lose it just do it again and paste into your next post right after. Please post the Exact Model of the computer in question, if assistance is needed just ask.
If I don't reply right away it's because I'm waiting for Windows 10 to Update.
