Windows 7 desktop not booting up 7

Someone suggested making a windows 10 disk and using that to boot it (or did he mean a full install). He didn't say and was going out the door. I still have discs, not sure if I have anything large enough to qualify as a DVD. My wife of 37 years left me months ago. Now I have PTSD. Can't stay focused.

Anyone have a link and instructions. Thank you

Windows 10 does not fit on a CD/DVD (unless have higher capacity disks DVD DL ) Only can do USB Boot and if your Motherboard does not Support that then hooped.

EDIT : Or Version 2004 of Win10 before they added new language packs.  Or Edit the ISO of unneeded language packs (not done so myself)

As well possibly will have issues.

Check these to try and repair and or get your stuff off :

A clean install of  Windows 10 will not activate any longer with a Windows 7 key.  Nor will they allow upgrades either.

The repair is needed for a computer in the next room. My separated wife never did any backups or took it in for repairs. I'm not that great with computers, but she was at the bottom of the barrel. Thanks

Does anyone have any suggestions about PKshadows (post number 3) Make use of site ? I don't want to download something that will make either computer crash. Reconditioned desktops and laptops aren't too expensive now and they usually have Windows 10 or higher on them. I'll have to make the change eventually. The reason I'm so green about computers and the internet is because I haven't studied them enough. I'm getting older and I also need new glasses.

Good idea for someone as you described yourself.

Be sure it is Officially capable of running Win 11 as10 loses support/updates in Oct 2025.
