I am receiving "new version" updates from Firefox maybe 3 or 4 times a month.

They do not tell us what is inside these updates.  They use fear as a reason to just

download and install them.

My web hosting servicc webmail was frozen up and I was unable to delete files

out of my email accounts.  What is Firefox doing inside my private web server?

They are just supposed to be a browser.  They take liberties they are not entitled to.

After working with tech support from my hosting service, Firefox was mentioned.

Yesterday I went ahead and installed the latest update.  So I went back and did

System Restore from a couple of days and, lo and behold, my emails were back to

normal.

I do not trust Firefox.  What are they putting on my computer???

Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 7 a few years ago, and Mozilla shook

hands with that,  Why don't they just leave my computer alone.

Please, I don't want anyone preaching to me about upgrading my OS.

That is a fallacy because they all have problems.  I just stick with the

older versions so I can get my work done.  The older programs are

more stable, and the older software still has a lot of features that have

been taken away as time goes by in the newer "better" ones.

Thanks for reading and listening and I will sign off now.  Goodnight!

Hello and welcome to BC:

Firefox 115.X ESR is the latest & last version that supports Windows 7.
The “updates” you report are likely important security patches.
These patches will be discontinued in September 2024 (unless Mozilla changes the plan).

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-users-windows-7-8-and-81-moving-extended-support

https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2023/07/06/firefox-support-for-windows-7-8-and-8-1/

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/enterprise/

And, yes, it would be irresponsible not to mention that Windows 7 is an obsolete, insecure operating system, support & security patches for which ended years ago. That is reality, not a "fallacy". Continued use - especially for online activity - puts one's data, identity & overall security at risk. Doing so will be increasingly difficult, as hardware, peripherals, software, browsers & drivers supporting Windows 7 become increasingly rare. And, without a robust backup strategy, recovery from a malware or ransomware infection will be impossible. But that is certainly your choice.

Among countless others:

Respectfully submitted

Just to address your "browser freezing" problems, see here for generic suggestions:

(Offered ONLY for information - do NOT purchase or download anything)

But there are many possible explanations for the behavior you report.
We would be happy to assist you with this, but we will need additional information about your system in order to do so. Let us know if you would like to proceed.

Thanks

I've stopped using Firefox because they have been unreliable and not very well developed. They aren't in your webmail.

I stopped using Firefox a long time ago too (it became too bloated among other things) and switched to the Brave Browser.

Virtually all Chromium-based browsers have ended support for Windows 7, but versions based on year-old Chromium 109 should still work fairly well.
Patches? We don't need no stinkin Patches!

I use Firefox with my Win 7 install...I've no complaints about it and have not had any problems with it.  I don't install any of the extensions other than uBlock and have no problem (and am grateful) for the frequency of security updates.

I do backups every 2 to 5 days just in case something goes awry with Win 7 or any installed apps.

NOTE : please see reply to your Post in : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/795176/random-bsod-and-monitor-doesnt-turn-off/  Post # 16

Note : All browsers tell you what has been updated or changed.  In Firefox go to Help-->About-->What's New.

As well if running Windows 7, 8, 8.1 you should be on Firefox Extended Release as has been noted in  Post # 2
