I managed to connect my IBM 330, 200mhz with 160mb of ram to the internet via Wifi. I was wondering without extended kernel, is there a browser that allows me to surf the internet?

Or; I found this project on the net:

I don't know linux and I don't have it. I was wondering if there is such a thing on windows, or if there is a similar internet service.

I would not take a Windows 2000 OS on the internet. Very risky and very unsecure, very out dated OS. Plus many web sites would not work as expected since the very old OS could not cope with the new web requirements.

I solved it with k-meleon (K9X).

Obviously I don't have to sail, but just to do little things. Such as downloading mail with Pegasus Mail. Apparently this email manager works great.

Have a question about the MP3 player, in this case Windows Media Player 6.4, which I use on Windows 2000, avoiding the upgrade to WMP9 because it is too heavy, I continue to use the basic version I noticed that with the WMP6.4 some songs MP3s are not played. An error is displayed:

ClassFactory cannot provide the requested class (Error = 80040111)

This error only appears on some tracks. I don't understand, on Windows 10 there are no problems.

Here under "Read More" of the "Standard Edition" it does show support for Windows 2000: Media Player Codec Pack - for Windows 11 / 10 / 8.1 / 7 It maybe just a Codec issue.

Not the full package, but it may work for you.

You are welcome. There are other codec packages available too, but this one seemed to work ok for Windows 2000 doing a qwant web search.

I had Windows 2000, before moving to Windows XP. I did like it a lot.

When I tried to install it, I got a message, that this package was not compatible with windows 2000. If it worked for you, years ago, I don't know what to tell you. Anyway, I found a previous version elsewhere and installed it.

Don't worry, I will rarely connect to the internet just to connect Pegasus Mail and download mail.

I guess I'll hardly ever use it to browse the internet.

I could install a firewall, which still supports windows 2000.

Nothing, no impediment. I still use this PC for work, Word, Excel etc, etc. I scan documents and have an old printer, which I still use. Of course I also have a modern PC, but for all simple operations, I still use IBM. So I thought I'd connect it to the internet and download the mail, but of a secondary email. For security the main one I use with Windows 10.
