Well I am a total Linux newbie.
I partitioned the drive in a second computer and I now have Windows 10 on one partition and Kubuntu on the other.
I have literally only shut down/tried to shut down Linux a couple of times now.
Is there a preferred method?
I clicked on the wheel in the bottom left corner and chose Shutdown.
Then the shutdown screen popped up saying the computer would shut down in 30 seconds.
There were four options presented as the timer counted down the 30 seconds.
Sleep Restart Shutdown Logout
Not wanting to wait 30 seconds I clicked on Shutdown at the 24 second mark.
That's when my computer froze!
It did not listen to me and shutdown immediately, nor did it continue counting down to 0.
Has anyone experienced what this newbie just experienced in bullet-proof Linux?
It's been frozen for at least 20 minutes now.
The usual Windows commands of Ctrl-Alt-Del or Ctrl-Esc had no effect on the computer.
So two questions. How do I elegantly shut down my computer now (if it's still possible)?
Assuming I can easily fix this, how do I quickly shut down my computer going forward?
