Hey! I posted about this issue I have on another forum (here) and got the recommendation to let a professional handle it. However, I'd like to know if there's any DIY way to fix my issue.

Hopefully someone on this forum knows the answer 🤞🏼

A few years ago, I bought a second-hand car. The GPS feature on the multimedia device wasn't working from the start.

After updating my multimedia device, trying to get updated features (which the update didn't contain anyway) the microphone that is connected to the multimedia device stopped working - meaning that in a bluetooth call, the other side can't hear me. On the other hand, speakers work fine (also during calls), and the multimedia device switches seamlessly to display the back-facing camera view when I change gears to "Reverse".

I'd really appreciate any help fixing the microphone connection!

Two smaller issues (that were present also on the original device OS and Shell versions) that maybe someone here might know how to change/fix are:

1) Doubt there's a fix, but taking a shot in the dark - when a phone is connected to the device through bluetooth, you have to press on a "mobile media" option in the bluetooth menu to hear the media. This mainly means that I can't have the radio on and in addition hear the phone's navigation instructions. I can route the instructions through the phone's speakers, but I might not hear it well. (I think that newer devices would lower the automatically mute \ lower the radio volume and have the phone's media play through?)

2) The GPS doesn't work. Meaning, when I click the GPS icon it just says there's no such app - "Can Not Launch Navigator". The path to the GPS app was originally "\Storage Card\MobileNavigator\ib piccanto.exe"

So, again, any help with finding a DIY fix for the microphone issue would be fantastic.

Thanks for reading :)

I'm not sure how automotive devices work, as I'm more of a tech guy.

Is there some way you can see what's going on behind the scenes

on this "multimedia device" the way you can with a typical desktop

or laptop PC?

In other words, can you connect some type of pointing device and/or

keyboard to see what's going on? I'm assuming not because it's a

car?

If that's the case, I'd think you'd be better off posting your question

on the right automotive forum, where there might be someone who

has already done this.

Alternatively, find out what methods mechanics use to diagnose

these things.

Thank you for your reply, Shplad!

I've figured it out a few months ago
There were several ways to enter the device's "behind the scenes" settings. I've found two different programs in similar systems' forums. One of them had an option to open a list of values  (enabled/disabled or numbers) for different aspects of the system. One option was whether the microphone was internal or external, and switching it fixed the problem!

I've used both programs beforehand, several times, and I (thought I) went through all the options. I guess I missed it

I had it for years. It's so nice to be able to use bluetooth calling again

So, I'm not clear...you got it working?

Yes!
With the bluetooth connection, the microphone now works again and people can hear me.
