Hi,

I have 2 PC setup, a desktop and a laptop, the laptop is connected with the other with ethernet to get Internet because my desktop have no wifi.

My laptop have high volume storage and I want to use it as a storage server, what I want is to be able to acces each other storage without the wifi connection and I have trouble to set it up with windows sharing things because I don't want other people connected to wifi to be able to connect to my PC. I have trouble finding info but i don't find anything about what I want.

Is it possible to connect 2 PC ( whitout connection to internet, with just a connection with ethernet to each other ) to do file sharing ?

RDD01, you have to separate two different concepts, the data transport (Internet, Ethernet and WiFi), and the data sharing (Windows sharing).

1) Data transport : Your desktop and your laptop need to be on the same network.  Let us know what equipment you have (modem, router, hub, ...), and we can further guide you to connect both PCs.

2) Data sharing : There is no problem to use Windows sharing even if all PCs have access to the Internet.  However, it needs to be configured properly.  Both PCs must have a user account with a strong password, and you must make sure that the shared folder have properly configured access credentials, i.e. you don't have Read/Write access to EVERYONE, just for your specific users.

To connect two Systems then you can connect them using an Ethernet crossover cable.
