Greetings,

I wish to bring attention to an exceptional performance enhancement I observed on a Windows 8 system approximately 10 years ago.

This increase was especially evident in audio and visual processing tasks (multimedia playback). The difference in performance was so marked that my machine,

which I used for neurofeedback (Brain Machine Interface) tasks, outstripped any other systems available in the market.

I believe this performance enhancement resulted from an inadvertent configuration while I was personalizing the Windows 8 system.

Despite its accidental discovery, the results were irrefutable.

I've documented this observation on multiple forums, which can be accessed via the following links for a more comprehensive understanding:

and here as well : https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/789666/the-enigmatic-performance-surge-a-windows-8-odyssey/

Would anyone be kind enough to re-share this or direct it to someone with insights on the matter? I would greatly appreciate guidance on how to replicate this or any suggestions based on the observations and conclusions from the provided links. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hello and welcome to BC, @max1001:

Thanks for your detailed post and for your other thread here:

Support for Windows 8 ended in 2016.
Extended support even for 8.1 ended in January 2023.
The computer hardware you describe in your other thread is likewise more than 10 years old.
And the behavior you report was "approximately 10 years ago".

Your 1st MS link dates back to 2015.
The 2nd appears to be your own, unanswered, locked thread from 2021.

As such, (so that we can better help you) can you please help us understand: do you need technical help with your computer, or are you merely relating an historical anecdote??

Thank you!

Hello,

Thank you for your prompt response.

I understand and appreciate the emphasis on the age and support status of the software and hardware I mentioned. To clarify my intent:

I am referring to a past experience with Windows 8. My main point of intrigue stems from the fact that, despite being on an older Windows

version with what is now considered outdated hardware, the performance enhancements I experienced were unparalleled. Surprisingly,

even with the newest operating systems and the most powerful CPUs available today, I have yet to encounter performance that mirrors

what I had with that particular Windows 8 configuration.

My objective is more than mere nostalgia. While I understand the tech landscape has dramatically evolved,

I believe that understanding the root cause of that performance boost might provide insights or benefits for modern systems.

There could be an underlying optimization or configuration that, if identified, could still be of value today.

I'm not necessarily seeking traditional technical help. Instead, I'm interested in insights or theories from the community

about what could have triggered such a pronounced performance enhancement back then.

I would be grateful for any insights or suggestions the community might have based on the observations and configurations provided

in the linked threads. If there's a more appropriate platform or section to discuss this, please do recommend.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Best Regards

Hello to all,

I want to reiterate and emphasize a pivotal moment during my experience.

As I mentioned earlier, when I booted from the USB, after password recovery procedure I was immediately greeted by a black screen.

This was shortly followed by a series of unexpected installations.

A message, which I find crucial to note again, flashed on the screen: "kernel latency reduced... reduced..."

I bring this up once more in hopes of its significance being recognized or clarified by anyone familiar with such occurrences.
