Hi

I want to rip my dvd disc with VLC, but after it is finished I can't hear any sound.

I chose Video H. 264 + MP3 (MP4), I want it to be able to play on a TV through usb drive.

Can you tell me what I do wrong?

thanks in advance

It's complicated and a lot goes over my head.  I have been ripping DVDs and Blu-rays.  Some play on one device and not the other. Some have sound on one device and not the other.  Some have other audio issues.  Some have video issues. There are different codecs and different playback devices may or may not work with a particular codec.

I did a little work with VLC but have moved on to HandBrake and dBpoweramp.  I am still looking for a one size fits all approach but haven't found it yet.  I am using media players to feed the TV setup.  Sony s1700, Panasonic UB420 and UB820, and now my latest Zidoo Z9X pro.  So far the Zidoo has been the most compatible with various files and also with different external storage devices.

Try HandBrake freeware.  Try AC3 which seems to be a more compatible codec with 5.1 or select stereo depending on your needs.  It can take a little time experimenting to find out what your particular play back device is compatible with.
