Hi,

New to the forum here, and also new to VM's. I am hoping that someone here may be able to help with my question.

I'm wondering if there is any way to take a VM and convert/use it to do a full install on a physical machine?

I have recently started trying out Linux (Linux mint Debian edition) in a VM on VirtualBox.  Over the last couple of months I have customized the install I am using on the VM and am hoping there is a way to use what I have set up in the VM for an install for a physical PC?

Like I mentioned, I am new to VM's as well as Linux, so I'm not sure if what I want to do is achievable or not?  I have tried searching for some information but as yet have had no luck in finding an answer to my question (maybe I'm just not wording the searches the right way??).

Anyway, if anyone could shed some light on my query it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi, have no idea if this is useful or not is Ubuntu : https://askubuntu.com/questions/32499/migrate-from-a-virtual-machine-vm-to-a-physical-system

Added Linux mint Debian edition to above search and seem like something there.

Thanks for the reply, muchly appreciated.

I've had a look at the links you provided and must admit a lot of what I read is a little over my head.  Seems I need to learn a lot more about Linux at this point. My inexperience became very apparent as some of the things made no sense to me.

Oh well, time to gather some more knowledge on the world of Linux.

Thanks for your time.

You should be able to convert the VM to either an .iso file or a disk image; it depends on how you plan to install it on the other machine.
