I want to buy a tablet to replace my kindles. I want something for using apps that are on my smart phone (Android version 5.1)  It is a Motorola 5 but the memory is getting low, so switching some apps to a tablet would give me more space.

My budget for the new tablet is:  Up to £500

What are the primary uses for this tablet (IE: email, web browsing, playing games, etc)? All these plus apps for smart lights etc.

What Operating System are you used to or would prefer if any (leave blank if you're unsure)?

How big of a screen would you want?   10" or 12"

Will this tablet be for college, work, home etc?     home

Do you want to be able to do two things at once, or one thing at a time?      Preferably but not essential

Do you want USB ports to plugin flash drives?       Yes

Any advice would be much appreciated.  I live in UK.   Thanks

I've had a couple of Samsung tablets in the past and have been happy with them:

I agree.

I've been using primarily Samsung tablets for various uses for some years. Very reliable and good quality devices.

Thank you both TsVk! and Budapest for your input. I was thinking along those lines myself. Now it's a toss up between the S5 and the S6! I think the cost might influence me a lot!.

Thanks for your help. I have bought the Se5 and use my phone as a hotspot. I like it a lot and made sure that I had enough storage space. Perfect.

Hi,

I am using Google pixel slate. It has optional Bluetooth keyboard is equally solid and doubles as the tablet's cover and it has a powerful, long-running battery. The tablet runs the latest version of Android and its performance is lightning fast. Its also help me for taking notes.

For all my time I have used many tablets and most of all I remember the 5th generation iPad, it has a very good battery, high-quality sound and good performance.

As an update to this topic, my last round of Galaxy Tab 2019 10.1" all failed within 2 years. All were put in warranty with port and screen issues at 11 months and about a year after that the screen fell out of all of them and refused to turn on again.

Very disappointing.

I bought the s5e Samsung and now it has lots of operating system problems. Probably my fault for fiddling about moving files. As a basic tablet it still works but I think I need to do a factory reset.
Thankyou everyone for your input, it's been interesting.
