I'm going to make another suggestion. Purchase a laptop...not an expensive one. Install Skype on it.
Skype will work on Macs, Windows, Chrome books and major Linux OSes such as Android and Ubuntu.
Purchase a Skype phone number and one year subscription....total cost per year is $60. You can purchase
shorter subscriptions, too.
With Skype you can hear a very loud rings on a laptop. Some Tablets...maybe all...have less volume capability.
You could use an ear bud to recieve the calls, too. Text and voice messages can be used.
If the laptop speaker is not loud enough you can get a small cheap speaker for less than $20.
I use Skype phone number and subscription. Have used it for many years. Very reliable and a heck of a lot cheaper
than a land line or smart phone...$5 a month with unlimited calling in the states and Canada. Something like .two cents
a minute for calling Europe or Asia. I use Skype on Windows 10 and Linux Ubuntu.
To use a headset or ear buds you would need them to be wireless if you choose to do that.

buddy215, you cannot expect any quantity of billybeaver's customers to all be Skype users, but maybe some features about Skype I do not understand. ( I did use it a little bit a few years ago but for small number of video conversations and some chat exchanges.)
What you discuss in your post #2 would be a good new topic on its own. Not sure everything that one can do with a Skype Number.

billybeaver's customers don't need to be Skype users. They can use any phone to call him once he
has a Skype phone number...just like calling any other number.
The OP has not responded and its been almost 4 months....so...who knows if he got the info I posted or not.
