I have been trying to download the mobile version of AdwCleaner to my Lumia 435 phone for a couple of hours. I get the message that it will download 'in a few seconds' and if it does not start, to click 'here'. Clicking has no effect however often I try. Can anyone give advice, including where I might get help from as I am not sure who to contact.

Hi clayto,

Adwcleaner doesn't offer a mobile version to scan such devices. And usually windows phone doesn't require a protection software due to the way apps are executed on their platform.

If you were trying to download for your machine, please try using a different browser on the mobile. Probably something went wrong with browser and scripts....

"Adwcleaner doesn't offer a mobile version to scan such devices."  I don't understand this statement. I found AdWcleaner in the Windows Phone Apps Store, on my Lumia 435 Windows 8.1 phone. I checked that what was 'downloaded' was the same as Adwc on my Tablet. I know there are some counterfeit versions of these program around --- if  what I found is  counterfeit surely MS needs to be notified?

And I am having the same experience with CCleaner, also from the Phone Store. I checked to see that the few pages downloaded appear to be from Piriform. How can one tell what is / is  not genuine? --- one expects apps offered on the Windows Stores to be genuine.

Hi,

Are you refering to : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/adwcleaner/9nblggh624nv#app-details ?

The image there given for reference shows that of the Adware cleaner used to clean the PCs...

Can you upload the downloaded file up on request?

Regarding counterfeiting, you must verify that its from thr real vendor or not.

Piriform makes CCleaner, Adwcleaner from Xplode.

In the cyberage, nothing is fault proof... Let me see if I can reach the author.

Hello,

I'm the author of AdwCleaner and I can confirm you that this app is a fake one.

I will contact Microsoft and hope they will delete this application from the store.

Regards,

Xplode.

On another forum an article has just appeared (to which I have added a comment) about the Windows Phone Store having become the target of malware, and the concern this is causing (at last). Something like 40 instances of fake apps have been identified, a leading example being CNN. Comments from Avast ae quoted. That is one of the fakes I have encountered. I would have thought this could develop into a serious issue for Microsoft --- I think  the Store has hitherto been regarded as trustworthy.
