Hi All,

I think this is the right place to post this question, at least I hope it is.  Please forgive and point in the correct direction if not.

I have a Lenovo MIIX 510-12ISK which i've been very happy with for the last 2 1/2 years or so.  No issues at all.  Its mostly used plugged in but often used unplugged as well.

Its June 2020 now and the tablet has mostly been used on the desk while plugged in.  A couple of days ago I unplugged it to work in another room and it was shut down when I had sat down to work.  It booted up again for a split second and then shut down again.

Plugging it back in, the battery is still full and it works fine.

I've tried unplugging it while the screen is on.  Its fine for an ad hoc number of seconds (never the same) and then it says locking and shuts down again.

I've been on the Lenovo forum's and can't find anything.  I've posted on the forum's but nothing has come in yet.

I've googled the problem but can't find anything that will help.

I'm going to keep on looking for solutions myself but I remember using Bleeping Computer many years ago and it was excellent so thought i'd ask on the off chance someone could help.

Thanks for reading and thank you even more if you can help.

John

Plugging it back in, the battery is still full and it works fine.

But it doesn't !  By your own description after you unplug the charger the tablet shuts down within a very short period of time. These are classic signs of a battery that is to all intents and purposes deceased because it is no longer holding any useful amount of charge.

When you plug it in it shows 'fully charged' or very close to it. That is because the battery holds so little charge it only takes a few seconds to take it from empty to full. Similarly, when you try running on the battery, it takes roughly the same amount of time to use all that charge. Li-ion batteries all have a finite life and there is endless debate about the optimum charge/discharge cycle to extend battery life to its maximum. Although the most common opinion I have seen is that you should charge one to full then use it until about 10-15% of capacity is left and then charge again. But it is not the most common by a very big margin !

What you really need to do check is the condition of the battery. I imagine - but I don't know - that if you search the Google app store you should find  at least some apps doing this job to choose from. I think you will find that the battery condition is 'very poor'.
