This is especially a problem with images when I want to compress a photo to change it's size from MB to KB. I have a photo open I want to compress but OPEN WITH only has certain programs or apps to choose from and none of them are design to compress photos. I eventually manage to get it done but first I have to open the image I want to compress in my file manager. Then after I t open the photo compressor app it will see the file I want to change and then I select it and it's then compressed which is a lot of kerfuffle to go thru.

Is there a way to get the system to list the compress photo app in the list of choices to OPEN WITH a file.

The problem is not limited to photos but that's the one I encounter most often.

Is there a workaround for this. Like will Adobe Photoshop for example be able perform this function and if so how do I make it happen?

Am I missing something and making this more complicated than it needs to be?

Usually apps that will work ,are added to the open with list
When they're installed,or you have to open the app and then open the file.
As here.https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/226314/why-applications-doesnt-show-up-in-open-with-list

Note.open storage app mentioned in above link is no longer around ,maybe something similar out there somewhere.
Overall ,might be easier to transfer files to your laptop and work with them there?

Thank you - yes, I can see its all quite complicated because the link is no longer working.

I just yesterday, somehow, got it to work automatically to open it but I'm such an airhead today I can't remember how I did that.

I will need to do similar work the next few days and when I do I will write down the steps I used and post them here just in case I'm not the only one chasing rabbits.
