Hi guys. I bought a Google Pixel 6a and it's driving me up the wall. I transfer video files from it to a Windows 11 laptop. They're .ts files and I can't find any way to display thumbnails on them. They default to VLC, but any programme I link them to, they just show the logo, not a thumbnail. It makes video editing impossible as I have no idea what's in any of the files without opening them. Is there any fix for this? Thanks.

I didn't find much about this online. That suggests it's not a common problem.
It may be a codec issue?

Worth a look:

Thanks, yeah I've scoured YouTube and Google. Can't find a fix or many other people talking about it.

I don't think it's the cache or anything because it's only .ts files. All other video formats are displaying thumbnails fine. I've tried playing with the 'always display thumbnail' settings and it makes no difference.

I wouldn't buy a Pixel again for a number of reasons. Went back to Samsung a couple of months later, though annoyingly I still use it for video and photos as the camera is slightly better for my needs. I guess I could batch convert everything with VLC but it's so much extra effort.

I'm trying to organise my clips at the moment and it's draining my will to live.

I found someone else complaining about the .ts format here: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/172034221/pixel-6-pro-video-files-are-ts-mp4?hl=en

I changed to 60 fps and it did indeed save as an .mp4 instead of a .ts, but same problem with thumbnails again.

Videos from Samsung device show up fine. Anything coming from Pixel, whether it's 30 fps .ts or 60 fps .mp4 is a no go.

I'm so fed up with it.
