Need a DAP

I've been lookin for some time for a DAP for portable, plug in anywhere, music player. I bought a Fiio M9 and I could'nt connect to my USB standard ports in my car or home receiver. I could do this with a iPod 15 years ago. Not everybody is happy to use the BT, and most devices don't have it anyway. The players have a 3.5mm out, but would sound better with USB cord. BTW, the M9 lasted about 2 weeks. One drop on carpet broke it.
