Songs/USB/Car - Ghost Files

Hello

I want to use a usb to play songs purchased through iTunes, in my car, but I have encountered an annoying issue that I don't know how to remedy.

1. I copy the playlists onto the USB

2. Plug into the car

3. The car system sees the songs, plus a ghost of the song (what I call it)

4. The screen will say the song name ie. who wants to live forever and there will be a ghost beneath it that reads _who wants to live forever

5. All the ghosts have the underscore _ in front of it.

6. The car beeps and it says Unavailable file and then moves past it.

7. Yes, it does move onto the next song but the constantly beeping of unavailable file is annoying and it slows down the song playing whilst the car processes this spot

How do I get rid of the _ files when they don't show up on the computer when the USB is plugged into it?

(I have an iMac and a regular pc)

If anyone can help on this matter, I would appreciate it.

What is the file designation of your files? Are they .mp3?

Do you have this playlist in some format or container, or do you move each individual song file 1x1 onto your flash drive?

They are .mp3 that I have uploaded onto the USB from itunes, although I did try converting them to 4 to see if that worked. it didn't. I tried renaming the songs, and that didn't work either. I also reformatted the USB to fat.

I purchased the songs and then move them into a folder on the USB by grabbing an entire list. I also have done it individually.  I create playlists in folders.

I invested in a more expensive usb and it's faster but still...oh well. Apart from purchasing an iphone I think I'll have to live with it. My android phone is only 2 years old and I cannot justify a change after I just splurged on the new car.

Your problem is rather odd. I do this all the time on my thummie, and have had no problem.

I am suspecting the download from iTunes is adding something, but that is only a guess.

Just for the fun of it, choose a couple of your songs, try to find them on Youtube, and copy/rip them off. Now convert from mp4 to mp3, and see if you have the same problem. If you do not, then iTunes is the culprit.

Another experiment....take your .mp3 files and re-save them in either Audacity or Format Factory. Perhaps the re-save will nuke the "ghosts".

Ok, that triggers another experiment....get your hands on an .mp3 file that is not downloaded from iTunes and try it. Does the evil "ghost" not appear?

BTW.....mp4 is only a video format with sound, will not play on car stereos. It must be converted to mp3, then you are good to go. I do it all the time.

I just noticed....are you downloading the songs onto your cell phone? Then try using a computer instead.
