Guidelines

How to directly download email into a folder other than inbox. This will allow you to direct your emails into specific folder, like routing your telephone, electric, or forum emails into there own folder. This simplifies sorting thru emails you may want to keep.

Instructions

1) Create a target folder. Name the folder to describe the sender. In this case we will use "BleepingComputer".

a) Start Outlook Express
b) Press "Ctrl + Shift + E" at the same time.
c) Select where you want the new folder to be located. In this case left click "inbox" once.
d) Enter the name of the New folder. "BleepingComputer"
f) Verify that the new folder exsist under "inbox".

2) Creating a message rule. This routing email as it downloads to a specific folder.

a) Open and email from the company or person you wish to redirect.
b) In the Toolbar select Message, then Create Rule From Message...
c) In the first field, select what condition to act upon. The top selection will select part of the email to act. In this case who the email is from, but there are several options.
d) In the second field, select the action you will take. The top selection will premit you to select the folder the email will be moved.
e) The third field will display the actions the rule will excute. Make sure the right email is displayed here. If the wrong email is displayed, click on the present email to choose another email address. Click on specified and select the target folder.

3) Verify that the message rule works. In this case the next time you receive a reply to a post at BleepingComputer you will see the email notification in the BleepingComputer folder, not the inbox folder.

You may have noticed several other options. Explore the options, such as deleting unwanted email. Forward it to a family member, friend, co-worker, or an alternate email account. This is a great way to miniumize the time it takes to sort thru your emails.
