Hello all!  I'm a writer and researcher. I have several IT certs such as CompTIA Security+ and Pentest+.

I am compiling a list of the most expensive certification exams (to get the certification, not including training).

If anyone can offer insight into some really expensive IT certs, please help!

Thanks!

Here is the list I have compiled so far:

  • $1,850 CCIE Routing and Switching
  • $2,498 Oracle Database 11g Certified Master Exam (OCM)
  • $3,125 Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) - Oracle Database Administrator
  • $4,400 ITILⓇ Master Level Certification
  • $15,000 Cisco Certified Architect (CCAr)
  • $2,000 Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
  • $1,200 VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX)
  • $4,000 ITIL V3 Master
  • $2,850 Oracle Certified Master (OCM) - Java EE Enterprise Architect
  • $3,745 Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
  • $2,247 Red Hat Certified Security Specialist (RHCSS)
  • $1,200 VMware Certified Design Expert - Data Center Virtualization (VCDX-DCV)
  • $1,825 Cisco CCNP

There are certainly some pricey certifications out there, which often require corporate or organizational sponsorship to go after.

Here is a representative link of an Avaya certification that costs $3500: Avaya Learning - Training and Certification (avaya-learning.com)

I have seen VoIP certifications that cost $7000, so it pays to do a cost-benefit analysis before taking the plunge.

EC-Council certifications can get pricey, so they offer $5500 annual subscriptions that enable you to go after multiple certs in a year.

As for conducting research on such a thing:

If you go to Pearson Vue's site, and start to schedule an exam, you can get some pricing information (Requires registration, and don't forget to hit Cancel after they show you the price).
