Hi Eru,
This is going to be lots of work for you since you don't use smartphone yourself. I can't give you specific steps, but I'd like to make suggestions that you might be able to find more information.
The first thing that I would investigate is how you put people in the block list. Some phones make it really easy to do this. There may be multiple ways to add to the list. It would usually be the phone/dialer app and the contact app.
- See if it's possible that your mom hit these buttons by accident.
- If your mom doesn't lock the phone, it's possible when she puts the phone in her purse/etc., something would touch the screen / push the buttons and put the numbers on the block list. You can try making it harder to unlock the phone (which some people don't like or can't deal with at all), and make it auto-lock really fast to see if it alleviates the problems.
The second thing I would do if the above investigation doesn't turn out anything is to reset the phone. This usually requires hunting down the accounts that she uses on the phone (including the apps) to make sure you have the credentials, making backups to the cloud/local devices, remove the google account associated with the phone (just to make sure), and reset the phone. After the reset and putting in the google credentials, again you may want to try making the phone unlocking less prone to accidents. All of these are more involved, and you may want to get somebody else TRUSTWORTHY to do it for you.
