Microsoft has quietly announced an enhancement to the Edge browser's dark mode, making it even darker.
The current dark mode, characterized by its grey tones, is set to be replaced with a richer black version, providing users with an even darker browsing experience.
This update is currently available for testing in Edge Canary, Microsoft's experimental version of the Edge browser. It is used to test and develop new features before they're rolled out to the general public.
This update aims to provide a more comfortable viewing experience in low light settings and to give the browser a sleek, modern appearance.
This move towards a black version of dark mode further demonstrates Microsoft's commitment to user customization and choice, and it will no doubt be welcomed by those who prefer the aesthetic and practical benefits of a darker interface.
The last big update for Edge added a new 'Edge Secure Network' feature with up to 5GB of data, significantly increasing from the previously offered 1GB. This new VPN-like feature uses Cloudflare's routing to encrypt your internet connection and secure your data against online threats like hacking.
Microsoft is also adding a new mouse gestures feature to the browser, allowing users to control the browser with the mouse.

It goes to show how mostly worthless Microsoft and the rest of tech currently is if they do a press release for a minor color change.
It goes to show how mostly worthless tech journalism it for reporting on it.

If you're unimpressed and that bitter, why are you even reading the article or for that matter even on this website? Have some coffee and zen out.

I think the OP has valid criticism about what passes for tech journalism today. One can come for the more indepth articles from BleepingComputer on security and vulnerabilities, but be frustrated with what are often just puff and filler pieces by this particular writer on minor Windows feature releases. I usually ignore these articles entirely (and didn't read this one either because I don't care about the utter mess fork of an advertising platform that masquerades as a web browser), but I wanted to see the comments... and wasn't really surprised at this particular reaction because I have the same sentiments on shallow puff pieces that are essentially low effort rehashes of press releases.

Microsoft Edge has improved a lot and it is actually a pretty good browser.
The dark mode is a welcome addition. I don't see anything wrong reporting it as some folks like dark mode theme.

No it hasn't. It's a bloated mess fork of Chromium that switched out the Google advertising & telemetry platform for Microsoft's with additional misfeatures to make sure people stick to Bing. That's not a good browser, that's an advertising and data collection platform masquerading as a web browser. Call a spade a shovel, cuz that's what it is.

black mode is just harsh to your eyes as white. dark grey is lot better.
